Hi Kevin,

1.- I have tested on my staging instance with a media item that had a very long file name.

Note: the file name is a number list from 1 to 500.

Please see the code box.

I uploaded the media item and the file name was truncated up to this point:

123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343

As you can see, the file name was chopped off at 34, almost to 35.

2.- I have also tested this on my staging instance.

The uploaded media item had these characters  -)(  in the file name.

After the upload, the file was stripped of those characters (second screenshot).

When it's shortened, does it lop off anything over the character limit, working from the end backwards?

 

Are incorrect characters (",' etc) simply removed, rather than replaced?
