Introduction:There are many reasons why you would need to create a new cookie policy or update the existing one.
These mainly focus on how cookies:
- Recognise a users computer when they visit the website
- Track users as they navigate the website
- Enable the use of any e-commerce facilities
- Improve the website's usability
- Analyse the use of the website
- Help in the administration of the website
- Personalise the website for users, including targeting advertisements which may be of particular interest
More importantly, if your website employs third party cookies, these affect users by:
- Tracking their browser across multiple websites
- Building a profile of their web surfing
- Target advertisements which may be of particular interest to the user
Any and all changes that are made to your current cookie policy need to be conveyed to the user, so that when these changes are made, you can obtain their consent.
Updating or creating a new Cookie Policy
Control > Settings > Cookie Policies
When there is a change of cookie policy (or a new one is created) on the Zone or the existing Cookie Policy was updated, Affino will display to the user the Default Cookie Policy (whether it is the Consent Bar or Pop-up)
By doing so, users will need to agree to the new or updated Cookie Policy (similar to T&Cs).
This will facilitate their consent.
Setting the new Cookie Policy on the Zone screen
Control > Structure > Zones
When setting a new Cookie Policy Profile on the Zone screen, a warning message will be displayed upon saving.
This is to advise that a change of Cookie Policy would entail the acceptance of the cookies again by users.
Note: You can apply the same cookie policy across multiple Zones.
Updating the Cookie Policy textOnce a user has accepted the Cookie Policy, you cannot edit the text.
If you wish to change it, you need to create a new one and change it on the Zone.
You can however update the rest of the settings, this will result in the Cookie Consent Bar or Pop-Up being displayed again to users.
Accepting Cookies via the Pop-Up or Consent BarIf a user clicks on Accept All Cookies, all cookies will be allowed to run.
These are:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies
- Functional Cookies
- Performance Cookies
- Targeting Cookies
