The primary difference between an Online Form and a Dynamic Form lies in their functionality and the way they handle form entries.
Online Forms:
Online Forms are designed to send emails or messages upon submission. They do not have a dedicated screen for viewing form entries. This means that once a user submits an Online Form, the data is typically sent directly to a specified email address or stored in a message system, but it is not stored in a way that allows for easy retrieval or analysis within the system itself.
Online Forms are generally simpler and are used for straightforward data collection where the primary need is to receive the information via email.
Dynamic Forms:
Dynamic Forms, on the other hand, are more complex and are designed to store form entries within the system. This allows for the entries to be viewed, managed, and analyzed through a dedicated Form Entries screen. This feature makes Dynamic Forms suitable for more complex data collection needs where the data needs to be accessed and processed after submission.
Dynamic Forms can also trigger additional actions when tied to a Conversion Event, such as sending confirmation emails to users or redirecting them to a specific page after submission.
Another important fact is that Dynamic Forms allow you to add custom fields, something which Online Forms cannot.
In summary, the choice between using an Online Form or a Dynamic Form depends on the specific requirements for data handling and processing. If you need to store and manage form entries within the system, a Dynamic Form would be more appropriate. If the primary requirement is to receive the data via email, an Online Form would suffice.
