Site Analysis Guide

Introduction

Affino’s enhanced analytics provides insights on impressions and consumption for articles (of type Product, Event, Review and much more) and also for videos and podcasts.

Instead of simply reporting on a single ‘View’ activity, Affino now breaks this down further so that it shows the number of impressions as well as the number of times the content was consumed and bookmarked.

This provides you with a more nuanced insight on how well read each article is.

External links within articles can also be optionally tracked.

Impressions VS Consumed

Affino tracks each page served to a human as an impression, and uses a combination of factors and methods to define consumption depending on the specifics of whether the user is within the same session, has partly or fully viewed the content already in the session, has spend enough time on it, or indeed scrolled the page for long-form article content.

Site Analysis: What is the difference between Impressions vs Consumed?

Site Analysis (drill down)

When you start from the Site Analysis screen, you can drill down by clicking on the Channel, then its underlying Sections.

From there, you can continue to drill down to the Articles within that section.

Channels

Channels > Sections

Channels > Sections > Articles

Media Items

You can also drill down into media items that are set within a channel/section:

Detail screen

These new stats are featured directly on each content item, where they are charted of the past year (starting from now).

You can get an overview of how engaging channels, sections and articles are.

The same applies for videos and podcasts: how many times viewers have watched your videos, heard your podcast, whether within an article or in the video library.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks (for sections and items) stats are also taken into account.

The total amount of bookmarked items (92) is shown at the top of the chart.

The amount of bookmarked items per month (62) is displayed on top of the specified month.

Tracking External Links

Control > Article > (Add/Edit) > WYSIWYG editor

Affino is able to track an external URL and count how many times it has been clicked upon.

The count will increment each time the link is clicked on (anywhere within a site).

The way to add and track an external link is via the WYSIWYG editor:

You have two options:

  • Track External Link
  • Button & Track External Link

Track External Link will simply display text that is set as a link:

Button & Track External Link will display the link as a button:

If there are any external links being tracked, these will be displayed in the External Links panel below the Referral URL panel:

Note:

  • The figures will only show a maximum of 12 months going backwards from the article publish date
  • Only external links will be displayed, never internal links

Security Lockdown (User Profiles)

Control > Security > User Profiles > (Add/Edit) Security Lockdown

There are two settings on User Profile that enable you to exclude IP Addresses and security groups from the Site Analysis stats.

These are located on the User Profile screen within the Security Lockdown panel:

  • Exclude IP Addresses From Site Analytics
    • Enter a space separated list of IP Addresses used by staff, e.g. your company offices IP Addresses
    • These IP Addresses will be excluded from Site Analytics
    • Affino will not apply login attempt limits on users coming from these IP Addresses (this means that a single user forgetting their password need not lock out the whole team)
  • Exclude Security Groups From Site Analytics
    • Select the Security Groups to exclude from Site Analytics

Unused Content

Control > Analyse > Unused Content

This screen displays the Channels, Sections and Articles (by Zone) that have 0 Page Views from a selected point in time.

Articles Report

Control > Analyse > Articles Report

The Articles Report helps you to compare the effectiveness, lifetime value and engagement for each article you publish.

Converting Articles Report

Control > Analyse > Converting Articles Report

The Converting Articles Report analyses which articles performed well and led to a purchase.
