Overview
Affino caters for eBook / PDF sales similar to regular products, only this time, the product is a media item rather than an Event, Subscription or Seminar.
This guide will show you the related screens and setup needed for you to start selling your PDF/eBook media items.
Control > Media > Media Items > (Add/Edit)
In order to sell an eBook or a PDF we will need to create it as a Media Item first.
Go through the regular steps to create the document in Affino then consider the following.
Control > Media > Media Items > (Add/Edit) > Permission panel > Disclaimer
You can add a Disclaimer (Control > Settings > Terms And Conditions Profiles) to the media item, this will be presented to the user when they download the file.
Note: you cannot add a Permission together with a Disclaimer, you will need to choose one or the other (or leave both blank):
Once the Disclaimer is set, it will appear to the user.
Example:
1.- User clicks on the Download link
2.- The Disclaimer (T&C’s) will be then shown to the user:
Control > Media > Media Items > (Add/Edit) > Security panel
The Security panel has two important options for PDF downloads:
1.- Downloads: select this to enable the PDF to be downloaded
2.- Usage Number: enter the number of times a user can download the media item
If the above is enabled, the My Account > Digital Media tab will reflect this:
You can also add a Content Security Right (Security Clearance) to the media item:
Control > Publish > Articles > (Add/Edit)
Create an article of type Advanced Product:
Fill in the necessary details and Save.
Once this is done, click on the eCommerce button:
This will take you to the Catalogue Item Add/Edit screen:
Control > Commerce > Catalogue Items > Catalogue Item > Goods
In order to associate a Media Item to the Catalogue Item, you will need to add it as a Related Good.
This is done at the bottom of the screen:
Click on Add then search for the specified media item:
Once the media item has been related it will be displayed at the bottom of the screen:
Please be aware that if you do not relate the catalogue item to the media item, the customer/user will not be able to download it.
Control > Commerce > Catalogue Items > Catalogue Item > Media Item Downloads (Related Goods)
There are three options on this panel that will be reflected on the My Account > Digital Media tab.
Example: I have set this media item to have a Download Duration of Years and a Download Duration Number of 1.
This means that the PDF will be available to download for 1 Year.
As you can see, the download limit is set to 1 year in advance on the My Account > Digital Media tab:
Once a customer goes through with the purchase, the Order Confirmation screen will show a link to the My Account page and subsequent Digital Media tab:
Added to the above, the Digital Media tab on the My Account page will reflect the acquisition.
The user will see the following details:
The customers’ purchase will be shown on the users’ contact record, namely on the Digital Tab under the Digital Asset panel:
The purchase will also reflect the media item purchase on the Line Items panel on the Order detail page:
The Catalogue Item Import supports the download duration for Related Goods.
Due to the above, the import file has the following columns (all of which are optional):
The Catalogue Item Export also has these columns.
Note: please see the Step ‘Enable the product to be downloaded’.
