Postcode Lookup (PAF) Setup Guide

Overview

Affino has introduced Postcode Lookup (PAF Validation), for users to add their postcode on their checkout journey.

This allows them to find their address and pre-populate those fields, but at the same time, it gives the Admin some sense of genuineness when they provide their address information.

Postcode Lookup (PAF) can also be used on the Demographic screen, allowing users to enter their address on that screen and when editing their profile too.

This guide will show you how to configure the Control Centre profile, in order to connect Affino to a PAF provider.

Sign up for a PAF provider account

Before you can use the Postcode Lookup functionality, you need to sign up with a PAF provider in order to use their API keys to connect with Affino.

We will use getAddress() as an example.

1.- Choose a plan (link)

2.- Sign up (link)

3.- Access the Security page on your dashboard

4.- Copy the API and Administration Key

Set up the PAF Provider Profile

Control > Settings > PAF Provider Profiles

1.- Go to the screen and click on the Add button:

2.- Select the PAF provider

3.- Give the profile a Name and copy/paste the API and Administration keys from the getAddress() Security screen and Save:

You have now set up the PAF Provider Profile:

Add the PAF Provider Profile to the Checkout Profile

Control > Commerce > Checkout Profiles > (Add/Edit) > Addresses > PAF Provider Profile

Select the newly created PAF Provider Profile from the droplist and save the Checkout Profile.

Validations that occur during checkout

There are some validations that need to occur before Affino can show this tool (i.e. in case of an API error or lack of credits,).

  • The Checkout Profile needs to have a PAF Provider Profile
  • Check there is no API error or out-of-credit error
  • Check if the users’ IP location is in the UK

Note: if the user selects UK as their country, the PAF tool will be shown

If the validations are successful, the Address 1, Address 2, and County/State fields will be hidden, leaving only the Country and Postcode/Zip fields:

My Profile > Other Addresses

PAF Validation is also present on the My Account > Other Addresses screen on the display side.

PAF Validation and the Demographic Profile

Control > Security > Demographic Profiles > (Add/Edit) > Form Fields > PAF Provider Profile

Just as PAF Validation works on the Checkout page, it also works on the demographic screen (when a user fills in their details for the first time or when editing their profile).

Setting the PAF Provider Profile on the Demographic Profile will enable the option on the display side screen, with the same logic as per our Checkout page.

The following fields need to be enabled on the Demographic Profile for PAF Validation to work:

  • Address 1
  • Town/City
  • Country
  • Postcode

If the aforementioned fields are not selected, the Demographic Profile cannot be saved with the PAF Provider Profile.
