The Affino SaaS Unified Business Platform is run on Amazon’s AWS Cloud Infrastructure and carries that same level of commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability and carbon neutrality.
In terms of the Affino architecture approach, we invest heavily in minimising the carbon footprint by optimising Affino’s delivery as far as possible. Every Affino update has dozens of performance updates to minimise the processing volumes as far as possible.
In terms of Affino, we have no corporate offices, and minimise our footprint as far as possible by being virtual with minimal travel.
We can look into things in more detail to produce an official Affino response, but hopefully this will do for your immediate needs.
AMAZON’S STATEMENT :
As climate awareness grows around the world, ambitious policies have pushed utilities to find ways to decarbonize the electricity grid, driving decentralization and digitalization. Today, you must not only integrate data from your distributed resources but also get ready for near-real-time data from thousands (and potentially millions) of behind-the-meter assets. Already these include batteries, electric vehicles, and “smart” homes and businesses. Few traditional utility systems can provide the scale and flexibility for this new paradigm.
AWS Power & Utilities allows you to harness unlimited, secure cloud computing resources. Its elasticity lets you respond to the exponential volumes of data and rapidly changing conditions you must address. The AWS cloud can spin up and down in seconds, responding to dynamic requirements and providing the processing power to introduce new and innovative programs. It can model proposed initiatives, determine whether they work, and deprovision them if they don’t. This level of flexibility is increasingly important as regulators look at performance-based ratemaking, which ties revenue to specific performance metrics, challenging utilities to rethink how they deliver services.
As the leading cloud provider, AWS is also energy efficient – 88% more than on-premises data centers. And AWS is moving steadily toward achieving Amazon’s company-wide goal of using 100 percent renewable energy by 2025.
