Bot Access Profile Guide

The Bot Access Profile enables you to block or whitelist known bots to your site.

This means blocking or permitting bots for the specific zones where the Bot Access Profile is set.

Note: you can block bots, however, bot whitelisting is only available on dedicated servers as it can lead to very significant traffic spikes in the event that whitelisted bots do not follow best practice guidelines and the rules outlined in robots.txt, this can result in downtime and increased service investment.

To move to a dedicated setup please contact the Affino team.

Example setup

Here is an example setup for a bot that you wish to whitelist:

If you have a bot from Facebook that is frequently visiting your site, so much so that it ends up being blocked, you can add it to a Bot Access Profile so that its not blocked and it can continue visiting your site.

After it has been whitelisted the bot will appear as "Allowed".
