We are at the point where AIs can transform the experience of your website for your audience.
Two of the main things users do when they visit most websites is a) try and find out about things, and b) catch up on the latest news.
Adding an on-page AI on the bottom right of the web page is now increasingly being recognised as the go to place on the page to get help with what it is you want to do. Make sure you have an AI to best support the user whatever page they’re looking at.
This means having an AI news search on AI pages, having a support AI on help guides and forums, and having a customer service AI on the sales and marketing landing and product pages.
A great route forward is also to switch out your traditional site search for an advanced AI.
As a rule the more focused AI assistants you have the better, but a general purpose Site AI is also worth investing in, just note that it is much harder to create and optimise a single AI for everything on your site than it is to have targeted ones for each role.
AIs can do so much more than traditional web searches, they can answer so many more questions, faster and more effectively, and present the information in the format the user wants.
Make sure you explore what your AI can do in-depth and create suggested questions that highlight the range of content and insight, and formats they can provide it in.
In truth an interactive chat is a far superior method for drilling down to the exact information a user needs than having to trawl through multiple articles to get the same level insight they could have had in seconds with a well framed question (as long as the content is there to provide the answer).
Note that knowing the exact questions users are seeking answers to is also incredibly useful for GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation).
Things are moving fast, and websites which provide direct answers to users’ questions are gaining the edge on those that make it harder to drill down to the information they are looking for.
A great way to bridge the usage gap and get the audience familiar with your AIs is to generate questions for each article which the AI can then answer. Indeed you can have the AI generate these questions for you in bulk.
These questions can be created in your house style, focusing on the topics covered in the article and directly ask your AIs when clicked on.
It has been shown that users are more likely to click on a relevant question in an article, than they are to click on related articles.
It is often beneficial to have multiple AIs, one focused on each area of content the users might ask questions of.
Note also that you might also want to tailor AIs to respond to users in different language depending on the types of questions they are asking.
Besides the Site search and more focused support AIs, a great place to introduce interactive AIs is in places where users naturally ask questions, such as online Forums and Collaboration spaces.
Adding an ’Ask AI’ button right next to where the user would otherwise create a thread for the community can act as a trigger to get them to check if there is already a convenient answer for them. Indeed using forum content to train AIs is also a great way to provide high quality answers quickly.
Things are just getting started with moving to the Evolved Web, and 2025 will see an overwhelming shift towards interactive AIs for many more user interactions on your sites than the traditional landing pages with article listings and detailed articles, and old school web searches.
Affino Gen 4 AI which is landing soon brings all the above features to any Affino site, while Gen 5 Affino AI coming in 2025 will usher in an evolved web experience, with seamless question and answer, listening and article reading experiences all in a single interface.
This evolved web interface can then drive ad and subscription sales, and leverage all your content, adding considerable utility and value to your sites, and overall brand portfolio.
