teiss.co.uk is the first of two Lyonsdown websites which are being deployed on Affino via an entirely new methodology - which involves a smart process of transitioning, duplication, adaptation and refinement.
Affino had to evolve and expand our brand onboarding process, functionality and User Journeys to accommodate this new way of working - including a complete re-tooling of the Content Import functionality - to make transitioning sites from other platforms near enough a pain-free experience for Affino Admins!
In rolling out this project we realised that we needed smarter in-context capture for content which was to be migrated to Affino - in particular to identify and transition all article images, PDFs, videos and other embedded media intelligently.
We greatly enhanced the Article Import to capture all the additional content from the source site wherever possible when importing each article. Affino then reformats the content, swapping out legacy tags where possible, improving spacing, and even going as far as correcting internal links wherever it can. In tandem with this we significantly improved the in-context help and notifications to make this functionality far easier to use by client Affino admins.
The process was steadily iterated and refined over the course of the project, and over 4,000 articles were elegantly moved across from the previous platform.
As teiss complements the security news with a community approach heavily supported by events - we also significantly updated and improved the Events Sign-up Journey - so that users could more easily register for their areas of interest. The Admin workflows for setting up Events were much improved to make that process easier and more intuitive. Affino made it easy to add one-click event sign ups, or if preferred easy form sign-ups, full on registrations and of course eticket sales. These user journeys and data capture have also been greatly improved.
Both sides of the Events Sign Up process have been improved - meaning that it is now far easier for admins and end-users alike.
Affino also integrated with the BigMarker API - Lyondsdown's choice of Webinar platform - such that Registered Users on teiss could have automatic, immediate and transparent access to said Webinar platform. This was a vital step to make such journeys as seamless as possible to encourage participation at the highest levels.
The User Journey across both these platforms is hence much simplified and wholly seamless - so that participation in Webinars is as effortless as it can be.
A key part of the project was the process for rolling out additional Lyonsdown sites - where a lot of work went into defining the core templates, and imbuing them with enough flexibility to be fully married to both the original design concepts for teiss and the upcoming Business Reporter brand launch on Affino.
Design on this occasion did not originate from Affino, but was smartly adapted from references provided. The whole idea behind this process is to empower additional sites to he rolled out quickly. This involves duplicating the core brand structure - including site, CRM, workflows and overall design, and then stripping out the content and rapidly re-populating while adapting the design framework to match each brand's look and feel.
Key to such methodologies is a lot of due-diligence at the front end of the project, and a discipline to operate within fairly formalised frameworks - which are though flexible enough to accommodate all the key brand markers.
The result for Lyonsdown is a great brand migration to a solid media business platform which opens up a whole range of future possibilities, while delivering an excellent audience front-end experience, powerful management capabilities, with smart data and targeting throughout the audience CRM.
Affino always encourages the maximum degree of planning and due diligence from the start, such that you might foresee likely evolving changes to your business environment. The idea being that there is an inherent degree of flexibility within the site structure and design framework to accommodate easy likely future challenges and changes required to meet those.
So when we say Adaptive Design - we mean two things really - the fidelity of the design implementation, and its inherent flexibility to accommodate likely changes. This means that when sites are deployed - they may not be fully populated or have every single journey planned out - but that there is sufficient foresight to have things in place that can handle such eventualities when they arise.
The teiss implementation was a highly collaborative effort between Affino, our consulting partners JCA, and the Client's Web Team. It was engineered in such a way that the Affino Platform would do most of the 'heavy lifting' and that all Admin processes could be incredibly easily and efficiently rolled out.
We congratulate Lyonsdown and JCA for this smart initial deployment and very much look forward to seeing its sibling - Business Reporter - going live in the very near future.
