Congratulations to RARIK - Iceland State Electricity - for 75 Years of Innovative and Pioneering Electrical Works

Fully established on 1st of January 1947 - Iceland State Electricity Company RARIK - has been developing electrical power projects and laying cables for 75 years now - delivering Electricity to near enough every far-flung corner of Iceland in all seasons and weathers - and including several earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Affino also shares another significant Anniversary with RARIK as they have been running on our Affino platform since 2002 - so for 20 years of the 75 - while RARIK has been powering Iceland - they in turn have been powered by Affino as such.

We collaborated on a 75th Anniversary Micro Site for which the initial elements have all finally come together - namely the RARIK Timeline, Picture Archive, and 75th Anniversary Open Day Events - as pictured here below. Further vox pop podcasts and ’RARIK the Movie’ a feature documentary will be further released later in the year. Note that all this is of course in Icelandic!

I’ve selected 11 of my favourite pictures also from the Archive to feature here after the micro site screen captures - which is my favourite part of the micro site. Some of those images are just epic in nature and composition and several look a little Wild Wild West even - RARIK has surely presided over an incredibly rich and colourful history - here to another century of great Electrical Works!
