For our most recent informal team gathering, those of us who could make it on that Thursday evening - gathered at the Electric Shuffle right next to London Bridge station near enough. 2 of the attendees were kind of shuffleboard ringers as they had played before, for most of us though - this was a brand new exhilarating experience!
Our venue was one of two in London - the other is at Canary Wharf, there’s also one in Leeds, and almost 3 in the USA - in Austin, Dallas, and soon to open in NYC!
In fact this was one of the most entertaining venues we’ve been to yet.
You need to split into two teams - Blue and Pink - which the system can then randomly shuffle for you - as it did for us. And then each team member has a head-to-head with a computer-selected opposite team member - where you get to shove these colour-coded (blue or pink) rounded metal-base pucks down a sort of mini bowling alley table top - with inward curving slopes and wrap-around gutter.
You get to play a number of different skill / luck-based games, where we played 4 different ones :
Weirdly the shuffleboard was wrongly booked in the name Sam Kimble - which somehow led Sam to be called Kim all night - which is actually her sister's name.
In any case the Teams were split as follows :
Team Blue : Kim (Sam), Krusi (Markus), Chris, Gregster (Greg).
Team Pink : Stef, Chema (José), Sue.
Team Blue won by one game - obviously Team Pink was slightly outnumbered here.
Markus ended up the high score king - getting the most points across Eclipse, Amplitude, and Short-Circuit games. While Greg seized the most assets - nay Territory!
Kim / Sam won the most game - 6, while Markus and I were right behind on 4 apiece, I got very close to a fifth win - but incredibly and wholly against all odds Chris and I drew in our Territorial Conflict - and both amassed exactly the same amount of Territory - which is unlikely to happen ever again!
There's a video of me planting a super Zone 5 shot during an Amplitude game - while Chema completed an even more trickier shot - where his puck was literally hanging off the edge!
In any case we all had a fantastic time, I didn't particularly like the cocktails - so I stuck to Mexican beer - but the Curly Fries and Pizzas were really great! We will definitely be going again - this is probably the most fun a team can have - and is great for all ages!
Unassuming Entrance - a little concealed, but you can see the 'Electric' sign from the bottom of that street!
Grand opulent interior - a veritable maze of a venue!
Our shuffleboard table was right at the end of this aisle, kind of next to the ornate bar!

Team Blue in the lead after a game of Eclipse! You might just be able to pick out the two smart cameras fixed to the end screen!
Chema also scored a rather brilliant High Five - where his puck was literally teetering off the edge!
